I feel like I am introducing a more inclusive worldview in small doses to the kids.

Today we were walking to church and see another couple walking towards us. “How are you this morning?” I ask and they respond appropriately.

“Do you know them?” 7 yr old DD asks after a few more steps.

“I think I recognize her as one of the librarians.” I say.

“They weren’t dressed for church.” She says disapprovingly.

“There are lots of good people that don’t go to our church or even any church at all.” I explain.

“Maybe they belong to a church with an afternoon meeting.” She postulates. The thought seems to make her happy.

    “Maybe” I agree.

Someday when I need to answer deep theological questions I hope to refer back to the basic principles discussed in everyday conversations like this one.
