GuestI first visited this website a few years ago when I go through a period of spiritual inquiry about the LDS church. However, in the last few years, I abandoned this wonderful forum to try to “conform” and I became almost really too zealous with my practice of Mormonism. But after suffering from some anxiety and depression, I received a new perspective when I met with a non-member therapist. A lot of my stress was due to the period that I was going through in my life. I finished high school, even though I had some struggles with “senioritis”, and I realized through my therapy sessions that I really do have many choices in front of me. Before I had put myself in a box, only applying to BYU and BYU-Idaho for college, and also never questioning if a mission was truly for me. But now I realize how narrow-minded I was; I’ve decided to go to a community college in my hometown, and to consider a mission, but not fully commit to it. I’ve realized I have to do what is best for my personal growth and spiritual development. I also realized by being so zealous in my religious beliefs, I closed off some opportunities, but I’m glad to say the world is still wide open to me with many new opportunities that I could have never imagined a year ago. GuestWelcome, seeker. I look forward to hearing your perspective. I’ve learned a lot here about seeing the individual life opportunities, so it seems to me that you are starting out on a good path already… something that took me a long time to do. There will be setbacks, but I believe that it has helped me to keep striving for something good, even if I can no longer fully define what ‘good’ even is. June 19, 2013 at 8:33 pm #270339Anonymous
GuestKeeping opportunities open is a wonderful, practical application of the core concept underlying personal, on-going revelation. I am happy to hear that you are on that path now.

Guestwelcome!! Can’t wait to hear more from you.
It is so great that you can see so much more… there is no limit.
One of the biggest lessons for me this week is exactly what Ray mentioned.
Quote:practical application of the core concept underlying personal, on-going revelation.
I used to think if I got personal revelation about something it meant it was true FOREVER. Now I see that I can get a revelation today and find out that something else will be usefull next week. It is my personal responsibility to have that connection with myself and God to receive it as often as I feel the need to. And only I know what is best for me.. not everyone outside. Not even my husband. I can ask for opinions or guidance and it can be useful. Just like this site has been useful. I get ideas.. then I decide for myself what works best for me. It makes this religion so much more doable.. and FUN! And it eases the anxiety of “screwing something up for eternity”…haha
Good luck with on your path.
On my Own,
thanks for the reminder that there will be set backs… I am on a high right now with peace and freedom. It was good to get the reminder that this will journey will be just like lifes journey.. ever ebbing and flowing:) like a heart rate monitor. I guess that just means we are alive:)
