Admin/mod user name colors

I went into the “ACP” and changed my name from nibbler and I believe I retained my mod status… which I tested by editing a typo in one of Heber13’s posts. “>global moderators[/url] list and can obviously still post here.

For those interested, here were the steps I used (I googled it):

1) Click the ACP link, either at the very bottom of each page or near the top where it says Quick Links

2) In the Administrative Control Panel click the ‘Users and Groups’ tab

3) Type your user name in the search bar and hit Submit

4) You should be looking at a page with your profile

5) Off to the top-right there’s a ‘Select From:’ drop-down menu that is set to ‘Overview’ by default. Change this to ‘Groups’

6) The site will automatically load the Groups page

7) If you click ‘Make group default for member’ next to where it says ‘Registered users’ it will make ‘Registered users’ the default group, meaning your user name will look like a registered user but you will still retain your permissions.

And I can change it to the way things were any time by clicking ‘Make group default for member’ next to ‘Global moderators’ (or ‘Administrators’ for the admins).

I’ll leave it up to the group as to whether it’s a good idea to do this. If you don’t think it’s a good idea I can change mine back. It also doesn’t have to be a group decision, it could be an individual decision, I’ll leave that up to the group whether it’s better to be united or leave it up to the individual.

And if anyone wants to do this but doesn’t feel comfortable with the 7 steps I can do it for them.

I like it – a lot, especially for the moderators. It will make it appear that there isn’t less moderation.

I will have to think about whether or not I want to change mine, since I am shown as an admin. There is some good to keeping that clear, so I will have to give it some thought.

Done and done. Second time. The color was too blue because I cheated. Fixed it now.
