    Reporting Back:

The only low point was in combined third hour he voluntold two men to stand and state why the church is opposed to same sex marriage, and made it a point that we must be ready to defend this position. (I don’t agree with that view, but am willing to give people a pass on this. Even though it didn’t feel right to me I still tried to make that viewpoint work for a long time, but realized I couldn’t). I wish I would have raised my hand and made the point that people can disagree and still have a temple recommend, but I didn’t.

The last 3 minutes are especially good if you are short on time:

Sounds like an overall good experience. The combined third hour sounds a little  but who’s perfect?

I’m glad you shared the experience though. It gave me an opportunity to think how I would respond if I was voluntold the same thing. I’m not good at thinking on my feet so it’s nice to know what kind of scenarios I might find myself in on any given Sunday.

In a way I’m sort of glad they aren’t seeing the results in the increased missionary force, in terms of baptisms. I think it might encourage them to see the world differently, and perhaps the way Mormons do things. But maybe not — we are famous for gaining self-esteem from holding our ground, in the church.

Never heard the word “Voluntold” before. Will be adding that to my personal urban dictionary.
