    Hi,

I hope this isn’t an inappropriate use of the forum, but my wife and I are thinking of moving from CO to TN. I personally wanted to get an idea of what parts of the state might be good for a faithful wife and a “happy to be a part of the community” husband.

If anyone out there has some thoughts, they’d be appreciated. If this isn’t the place to ask this, feel free to tear it down.

    Thanks…

I know nothing about Tennessee, but when you get far away from the Mormon corridor they are looking for bodies to fill positions. If you are OK doing some callings then I think you will be welcomed. If you do that too well, you may be pressured to do yet another calling (maybe even at the same time).

I’m not from Tennessee, but I do live in the East. I agree with what LH said. Wards here tend to be smaller and more diverse than those in the Corridor. If you have the opportunity to “ward shop” I suggest you do (realizing that in some places demographics preclude that).

I am in the East too. I think you will find a much more diverse group of mormons, but it makes it quite fun! I love the quirks of my ward. Ya, I have 2 callings, my husband is in an extremely busy residency and EQP. So be prepared for the possibilities of some heavy service, but you can always say no. That is not uncommon, but can also be quite frustrating if you are a yes person. IMO I think it is more acceptable to be a “happy to be a part of the community” out here

I’m in the east also. It depends on where you end up.

In some areas yes, you might be looking at having multiple callings… but I’ve often found that those smaller groups feel more like a close knit family, so it more than makes up the difference.

I’m in a populous area, well populous with members at least. Lots and lots of corridor transplants too. I rest easy at night knowing that there are several dozen warm bodies in my unit that would be considered before they’d start knocking on my door to fill a high visibility calling. ;)

It looks like the Nashville area has several stakes but I do see several branches in their ranks.
