GuestOver the last day, I have had several times where I am getting errors from this website when I try to post. I also have had the mobile application say it couldn’t post a private message, so I retired it 3 times and it never said it took – only to find that it did 3 times. 😳 This has been at home, at work, and on cellular data – so I don’t think it is my Internet connection.
Just wondering if anybody else has seen this.

GuestYes — it takes a long time to post a private message. You have to sit and wait, but it works. Once I got a “server missing” error, but I think that was because I had a message window open on two computers for reasons I won’t go into. GuestLH, I saw the multiple posts of your private message and assumed it was a glitch in the system. If Brian sees this, he would be the best person to address it. I assume it happened for some reason as a result of you sending it more than once and the number of people involved in the conversation. As for the delay in sending a private message, that occurs because private messages sit in the Outbox until someone on the recipient list checks their Inbox. I still have three messages in my Outbox from months ago (in one case over a year), because they were administrative messages to individuals who weren’t a good match here and who left before reading my explanations of our administrative actions. I should delete them, but I keep them in the Outbox just in case the people check back in with us.

I’m having no issues whatsoever with loading pages in the forums.

This is a different type of delay. The user is hitting submit, the server takes forever and eventually times out, displays an error making you think the message did not go through (but it did), so you try to send the message again, then the person receiving the PM gets several duplicate messages in their inbox because of all the reattempts.
Edit: This post went through lickety-split. It may be an issue limited to the PM system, related to the number of people in the PM or maybe the PM system is cluttered?

GuestNibbler made my point. It’s not the Outbox delay, it’s the latency involved in sending the message to the Outbox. I got the same error Nibbler and the others did. I think the tendency is for the user to press Submit multiple times, which then results in the same message being sent over and over again. These kinds of problems often disappear after a few days thought, in some cases. Let us hope
