    Absolutely. That is why it is SO important in many cases to try to distinguish between cultural interpretation and core Gospel and theology (and even currently official doctrine).

    Once you can distinguish between cultural interpretation and the gospel, you can work on finding ways to StayLDS and think differently than others. You can give yourself permission to do that. But it helps to also practice how to navigate it, understanding that others (think Stage 3 speak) will react a certain way, so choosing the right timing, dose and tact for expressing different ideas helps avoid contention.

    For me, staying involved in the ward is about practicing my religion and knowing how to disagree but be charitable regardless of differences. I’m still working on it.
