Solemn assembly right off. Eyring conducting. This will take some time. Both my picks for apostle made it! Gong and Soares!

Wow. Two who were among my top choices were called as the new apostles. I am shocked and delighted.

I noticed that for the sustainings from the general membership, they alternated between equal age/size groups between men and women. They’re really trying to show equality.

I sat on the fence for sustainings. I don’t feel I can really sustain or oppose any of the leaders.

I think it was noteworthy they did women before the AP. I don’t recall it being done that way before.

The focus on the new Prophet is completely understandable, but it won’t resonate much with many here.

I was thinking the same thing. Likewise the focus on faith. I generally give Ballard a miss anyway. And he had to go there with technology.

It is a solid orthodox talk. Nothing out of line thus far.

“Too many allow themselves to almost live online.” We need to unplug in order to “be still and know that I am God.” That is a good point and a good way to say it.

The focus on service also is well presented. “(Jesus) went about doing good.”

Taylor of the Seventy, OK talk about being children of God.

Echo Hawk started with an Easter theme, nice talk about the Savior’s mission and forgiving.

“Forgiveness allows me to remember them with unfettered joy.”

That is a wonderful point. I have never thought about it that way.

This is a great talk about forgiveness by Elder Echo Hawk. I recommend it to everyone.

People I know who are heterodox to some degree and know Elder Gong are ecstatic. The stories I am reading are beyond encouraging.

I am furious that the first talk out of the gate is one about following your leaders even if they are imperfect. Furious. Because I know that this is the only response that we will get to the Joseph Bishop scandal, the Rob Porter scandal, the many many failings of the church hierarchy to protect the vulnerable is “oh well, sometimes leaders are imperfect but they represent Christ so you have to follow them anyway.”

It literally makes me sick. Who was Joseph Bishop representing when he asked a sister missionary to expose her breasts to him? Is that what Jesus Christ suffered and died for?

This isn’t just wrong, It is EVIL.

Stevenson was a bit too much on the prophet adoration side for my liking but his explanation of the process is probably good for the uninitiated. I came in expecting quite a bit of prophet adoration, so I am at least prepared.

I’m liking Robbins because of his focus on the Savior, sacrament, forgiveness, and grace. Recommended.

Overall, the talks this session have been good-very good. Elder Robbins’ talk about growing from failure and repentance is excellent.

(This is not a response to Joni’s comment. It simply is a comment in the flow of this session.)

In his position overseeing the northeast US I have heard from him a couple times and my SP references trainings he has had with Elder Gong. He was my first choice and I am more than pleased.
