Last Sunday was the first Sunday that we were back in Oregon with our home ward. I went to church with Roy Jr. early to remind the presider of the meeting that we were in attendance and to ask if he wanted to welcome Roy Jr. to the ward/church. He did (want to welcome little Roy) and he also asked me to give the closing prayer (I must have approached him at the moment when he was trying to get all the meeting roles filled).

When he asked Roy Jr. to stand he couldn’t see him through the crowd so Roy Jr. began to wave his arms.

I prayed in thanks that we were able to meet as a ward body and asked that we might display helpful compassion one towards each other in helping each other on the path towards our journey home.

I share this because these things are a big motivator for me to still participate in the church. Despite all the hurt feelings of late I still find these things to have value. The Mormon world may be reeling but my little corner of the Mormon world is same old – same old (with all the good and bad that this entails).

    Thanks for sharing Roy!

I am finding it inconsistent that children of gay couples cannot decide to be baptized at the age of accountability, at age 8. They have to wait until 18. But other children can choose at 8???

Which is it? Why 8 instead of infant baptism if they can’t choose at 8 either?

I think at age eight, we do have freedom of choice to some degree. It obviously depends on the person. Whether we have the right level of info is another matter.
