Adam Greenwood and I disagree about a lot of things, but I love the following post:

    Being a Mormon is Hard” – (http://www.jrganymede.com/2013/11/04/being-a-mormon-is-hard/)

I especially love his explanation of what we can learn from the story of Peter walking on and sinking into the water. I am going to excerpt it here, but I recommend the entire post.

    Quote:

“God brought strongly to my mind the story of Peter walking on the water. It was pointed out to me that me serving a mission was absurd but that in its way it was a glorious absurdity – and that when it inevitably turned into a disaster, the hand of God would lift me up. This story was the text I preached in my missionary farewell service and in my missionary homecoming service and has become my personal theme. I see it, in fact, as a reprise of the whole plan of salvation.

I pray that each person who participates here will continue long enough when things inevitably turn into a disaster that the hand of God can lift you up – no matter where that hand then places you. I believe strongly, literally or symbolically, that God’s hand is stretched out still.

Ray, the story in the Bible about Peter being rescued on the water by Jesus Christ is one of my favorite scriptures. Thank you for sharing. :D

I have to say, its sounds like he served my mission (I have very similar traits), but, I had never really thought of Peter’s trial that way. Well worth the read, thank you Ray.

I enjoyed reading this Ray. Despite our earlier decision, we’re still kind of floundering along. We’ll be making our move soon and have yet to decide how involved, if at all, we want to be. Being Mormon is hard. Being a StayLDS kind of Mormon is even harder. Thank goodness for people like you and sites like this to give us comfort and support.
