GuestSomething very unusual and wonderful happened today in regards to Johnathan. It is like a Christmas miracle and brought me so much joy today. Not sure what happened, but it feels like the holy spirit working on him. Two Christmas cards with a gift card arrived in the mail today. He sent his dad and I each two separate Christmas cards and wrote a message to each of us. 11 years ago he rejected the church and God because he felt God and the church rejected him for being gay. I want to share with you my joy that he has found his faith in Christ again.. He just gave me permission to share this. Here is what he wrote me, and then his dad in the best handwriting I have ever seen him use: Dear Mom,This Christmas, it’s a time to reflect on Christ. When the final curtain is closed, what will we have left? Christmas is a happy time, but sometimes can be sad as well. As I must stay in Washington this year, we may both find sadness that for various reasons, we cannot hug each other, play dominos, scrabble, and watch a movie or play miniature golf. But you can always call me on my phone, or send me an email.
Think of Christ this Decemember, and what the big picture is for our lives. The December of our lives, indeed, of this world, is just ahead.
Thank you for everything. I love you,
Johnathan
Dear Dad,
This Christmas is a time to reflect on the things that matter most. What matters in this world? If you are an atheist, perhaps nothing matters. After all, if there is nothing more after we die, there can be no consequences, no ‘justice’ for our actions, other than the consequences that are imposed on us. There is no heaven to try and be worthy of, no God to try to please, no Satan to fear.
Everything that one would want to learn would have to be learned in 80 years. All the experiences and hopes and dreams of a individual would have to be accomplished in this lifetime. And the purpose to one’s life is also limited to this world. That’s not the beliefs I want to believe.
The alternative for me is to believe that something does exist after this world is done. Maybe Jesus won’t magically come down on a cloud someday, but from what I’ve read he doesn’t care how much money you make, or what you have accomplished in this life. All Jesus will want to know is how you treated other people when it comes time for your life review. And that’s something I can believe in.
Thank you for being a great father.
Love Johnathan
I am crying now as I read this because this reminds me of the beautiful son I raised. To see a glimpse of the Holy Spirit working on him again is truly a long awaited prayer.

I loved this part of it…I think it could be a quote that could be stenciled on a wall or monument.

GuestWhat a wonderful man & son. I believe that God puts specific people in our lives for a reason.
I know you feel blessed that he’s in your’s.
A great Christmas story that I’ll remember for a long time.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
