GuestYes, the faith crisis 101 page does express some of what I have experienced. It is a difficult thing to understand from the outside, I get that. Why do so many traditional answers “not work”? There are multiple reasons but for me one of the biggest is simplification. To me life and human interaction is inexpressibly complex, there are no easy answers. What I often hear in traditional explanations is an attempt to over simplify, and it just doesn’t resonate with me. Yes, there is some truth in it, and there is much truth beyond also.

This. Answers like “pray” or “read the scriptures” or “talk to the bishop” or “follow the prophet” don’t work for me because I was doing those things when the faith crisis occurred and continued to do them into the crisis without reward. “It is not that simple.”

Guestshoshin, please read the following post. It’s the best answer I’ve been able to write about why traditional answers don’t work for many people: “
Thestrals, Dementors, Boggarts and Crises of Faith” ( )http://thingsofmysoul.blogspot.com/2012/12/thestrals-dementers-boggarts-and-crises.html July 22, 2014 at 9:06 pm #288043Anonymous

There are some good answers to this question already. I have my own question: what are the traditional answers supposed to “help folks here” accomplish? A return to TBMism? That is not likely (if even possible) for most of us. As far as I can tell we each have different goals, many of which are nontraditional. We each walk our own nontraditional path. For that, we each need our own nontraditional answers. These may or may not overlap with the traditional answers given in the church.
