Our bishop is leaving for pastures new. I got to speak to him the other day and express my gratitude. I am quite sad he’s leaving, but he’s moving back to his home area where his family is, so I understand completely.

He’s helped me get active again, and go to the temple, and take the big steps etc. I also feel that he has an intuitive understanding of the broad range of human experience. One woman said to me that she thought he was very much “in tune with the spirit”, and I agree.

I’m a bit worried though. I have been very comfortable talking to him about various issues, and he is extremely approachable, but I wonder if his successor will be. I have no idea who it will be. He’s also quite close to me in age, which helps to.

God bless good Bishops. I hope your new one is similar.

echo Ray — Good, psychologically mature, effective, people-sensitive Bishops are a real treasure! I’ve known some too.

Sad to see him go SamBee.

Yeah, I think one good bishop is worth twenty bad ones, and I have heard some horror stories. This guy definitely deserved the job, and represented all the good aspects of the church… I suspect I already know the new one, but have no idea who it will be.

Our SP is a pleasant enough guy on the other hand, but I believe has introduced too many political things into his sermons.
