When I get my blessings restored, will my temple sealing to my ex-wife be restored? What if I have remarried? What is she remarried?

Someone told me the policy has changed, and if a woman or man remarry, their previous temple-sealing is canceled. Can anyone answer these questions?

I have only limited experience with the “restoration of blessings” ordinance, so take this with the grain of salt. My understanding is that ordinances in place at the time of excommunication are restored with the original ordinance dates recorded. I’m not certain but my guess is that if a sealing was canceled after a divorce and excommunication then that sealing would not be restored, but if the sealing stayed in place after the divorce and excommunication then the sealing would be restored.

What exactly happens in a restoration of blessings may depend on the circumstances – I believe the wording of the ordinance changes according to the person for whom the blessings are restored. Usually a general authority performs the ordinance but sometimes a stake president is given permission if no GAs are traveling nearby at the time. When a stake president does it they are given the wording to say and basically read the ordinance from a paper.

That’s a good question, and I don’t know the answer. I typically don’t respond with “ask your bishop” but in this case, he, and perhaps even more so your stake president, probably has access to the best answer. If you ask them, share your response here.

I do not know the policy.

I believe that important human relationships continue in some form after death and that this principle is the basis for the LDS concept of sealings and forever families.

Well, bishop and I are talking about rebaptism. It will be several months still, but wish me luck.

I don’t agree with everything in the church, but I do believe that baptism and confirmation would be pleasing to Jesus,..and I DO have tender feelings toward that individual. I want to “come to Him.”

    Will see how it goes.

I think this is key. Best wishes.

There can be great meaning in symbolism that actively involves the whole body.

God bless you in this stage of your journey.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Who knows….might be another year or LONGER for me….but whatever. Hopefully not….my new bishop needs me. I’m the social guy who can help make his life easier if I was harnessed in his team.

    Anyway….I will keep plugging along…
