GuestIs there any translation of the Book of Joseph from the Egyptian papyrus? Any references on the subject?

GuestThe only thing I’ve got is this from FAIR: http://en.fairmormon.org/Book_of_Abraham/Book_of_Josephhttp://en.fairmormon.org/Book_of_Abraham/Book_of_Joseph” class=”bbcode_url”> August 21, 2014 at 5:18 pm #289079Anonymous
GuestMy understanding is that the papyrus with the Book of Joseph still exists and is in the possession of the church. Aparently this papyrus was as described well enough to identify it. The church has displayed this papyrus in the past. Any ideas about why it has not been translated, either by LDS prophet? Academics would also be able to translate the writing now and since there are images of the hyroglyphs, I’m wondering why it hasn’t been translated.

Assuming that the church has this papyrus – no prophet since JS has had the gift to translate.
Also – the church would have absolutely nothing to gain by having it translated (either by academics or as a religious text).

GuestI suppose we could come up with several reasons why but they are all speculation. Frankly I think if it had been “translated” we would be having the same discussions about it we have about the BoA. Therefore, I’m just fine the way it is, let the sleeping dog lie. There are more important things in the here and now to worry about. August 21, 2014 at 7:12 pm #289082Anonymous
GuestSome time ago I remember seeing a website that had content that the author purported to be translated text to the Book of Joseph, there were a dozen or so chapters. I read a bit of the “Book of Joseph” but didn’t give it much time. With no citations or sources as to where the text came from the whole thing was almost assuredly a hoax. I guess the made up version could be as entertaining to read as reading the real deal, had it existed.
