This is a bit outside the normal church related discussion, however if anyone enjoys reading science fiction I would recommend Spin by Robert Charles Wilson.

I find science fiction intriguing as it often deals with the future and often deals with a universe much larger and bigger than anything we can understand. A part of the story involves the potential destruction of earth and through the authors eyes we see how people deal with the looming end; some retreat to religion, some to science, some become violent, others become passive. I found myself thinking about my faith journey a lot during the book. Those pieces are tangential to the main story line, but the book made me think about things from a different perspective.

Probably not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you like sci-fi I think it will be worth your time. 🙂

I’ve actually been reading that book on and off for the last year. Many things have gotten in the way (including a not so well known series called a song of ice and fire [emoji6])I’d say the book deals as much with religious, social and political issues as much as scientific issues.

I also enjoy science fiction for the same reason, and think it has played a big role in opening my mind over the years.

Gonna have to finish it now. Then we can discuss it.
