1) I moved it to the Parking Lot area, so we can talk about it here privately. I sent her a PM, expressing my concern that this site cannot be seen as a place for authors to advertise their books. 2) She also posted a comment in the “future of the church” thread that dwelt heavily on homosexuality, accused Pres. Hinckley of being senile (disoriented and mean-spirited) at a Stake Conference she attended in Illinois (although she posts from Colorado), and essentially was not focused on the topic of the thread. I also sent her a PM about that comment, asking her directly what her intent and purpose are here and gently calling BS on her depiction of Pres. Hinckley.
3) I searched for the book she wrote, and in it she advocates reparative therapy – since nobody is “born gay”.
I am VERY uneasy about her involvement here. Please keep a close eye on her comments and posts, at least – and let’s discuss banning options if this continues.
She apologized in response to my PM’s and said she understands my concerns. We’ll see.
I can’t shake the feeling that she might be looking to push her view of homosexuality, so let’s keep a watch on her comments for a while.
I sent her a PM as well asking her if she would remove the forward portion and replace it with her review of her own book. From what I have seen of her here and elsewhere, I always got a slight sense that she was a little bit off. The topic of homosexuality consumes her, and she tells her story over and over. That is precisely my concern – and I don’t want to have her pushing reparative therapy on this site in every thread.
