Am I the only one who is concerned about “Brother Carter” and George? I can’t understand the purpose of Brother Carter’s post – and his promise to share other “sad stories”. I also am concerned about George’s last comment in the “Why Ordinances for the Dead” thread. It doesn’t make any sense theologically, and the insertion of the jab through OC Tanner’s daughter puzzles me. “My purposes here are as you stated for the reason of this forum. To bring up and discuss, through my personal experiences WHY people become Less Active or even leave.” I locked “Sad Story” thread. There is NOTHING constructive that Brother Carter is contributing, and he even chastised everyone for asking him to participate in constructive discussion. I think he has a prepared list of stories that show the Church is evil, and I think his purpose is to complain and tear down – plain and simple.
How do you all want to handle this?
I agree. We aren’t that type of board. We know why other people leave the Church. We don’t need an update. People can tell their story, why it bothers them or what doesn’t seem right (to them), but it MUST wrap back around to strategies on resolving that problem or moving past it. We’re documenting solutions, not problems.

Agree. Full support from me. How does everyone feel about george? He posted another jab at the Church today, and he didn’t even try to include anything positive. Should we try a personal note to them restating the mission and guidelines for this forum? (in a nice way) explaining the lock actions etc.? Sorry I gotta post and run, won’t be back much today.
I probably have one of the slowest fuses of the moderators. George just crossed my threshold in this thread: http://forum.staylds.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=633 It isn’t just this one comment. I don’t feel like he is in that place yet where our community can work with him. He is still too angry. He also seems like he is stuck in a rut of obsession about his notions of social justice — with zero input on how he plans to make that better. It’s just the childish rants that someone else out there in the cosmos better fix it, or else!
He reminds me of the old man in recent Saturday Night Live news sketches played by Kenan Thompson that complained about everything under the sun (mostly government). When the news guy would ask him about the solutions, he would say something like “I can tell you the exact details of the plan to make this work … ” and then screamed “FIX IT!”
I’d like to see George break through and see his bitterness for what it is doing to him. He seems so typical of one-issue DAMUs, and his issue is social justice (a myth if ever there was one). If we could help these guys, I think it would reach a lot of similar lurkers. I tried hard with George (when I put him in the batting cage), but he ignored it and got so much coddling from others he felt it was OK to ignore. But I’m not quite ready to kick these guys out yet. I agree with Orson about PMing. On the sad stories thing, maybe it helps to point out how the stories we choose to hold onto become our own stories. Sorry I’ve been a bit out of it the last few days. No cell signal in Yellowstone. I have taken a bit of the public role of asking people for their purpose and locking threads. I think the PM should come from someone else. V, H, O – anybody want to send something to george? Hawk slapped george on his storm post; I swung hard and directly with both fists and a leg. I hope nobody minds my response to him. Lets call this a last attempt to coach him. The recent new topic he posted is way out of line. It does not lead to a discussion. I was just him posting another George Manifesto. I locked the “Storm is coming” thread. It was really about nothing related to the site, and was turning into a three ring drama circus. George is testing my tolerance limits. MWallace was talking about a secret cabal of SLC women trying to make sure blacks can’t golf and demanding rape … ??? WTH???
