    So maybe some of you have seen the recent `rescue plan for Europe where the church is offering local leaders some ideas to help those who are strugling with testimony. There is also the recent Ensign article, both of which in my opinion miss the boat when it comes to how to help.

    I think the church is overlooking us as really the best resource to help, I think we are uniquely placed to help. Has anyone approached their local leaders to offer this help?? I have an upcoming meeting and am going to test the waters, wondering if others have done so???

    I have had enough conversations with local leadership to know they are hesitant in letting our “uncorrelated” ideas be promoted through any kind of official channel. If they refer anyone to talk with us when they know there is a chance we may support an idea that is more individual than “party line” they risk some type of fall-out from that. Sometimes even the risk that an individual may leave the church can be a better alternative than the risk of us taking any reins. For the most part our work will be of our own initiative, and I think it’s probably best that way.

    Yes, we can – but we have to work within the system, so to speak. My leaders have known for years that I am heterodox in many ways, but they also know that I am as “mainstream” as it gets in many other ways – especially how I live my life.
