A category 5 cyclone with winds up to 178 mph hit Tonga a few hours ago. About 300-400 homes have been destroyed or severely damaged on the largest island hit by the cyclone. There has been only one fatality reported thus far, but authorities are traveling to more remote islands to assess the damage and possible casualties.
Prayers would be appreciated for the people hit by the storm.
Always good to be reminded that most of my problems are of the “First World” variety. Nice folk Tongans, I’ve met a few. Excellent rugby players, but like many Polynesians some of the best people you could hope to meet.
