GuestI haven’t posted here in some time. For awhile I was feeling pulled back towards returning to the Church. I have since reached the conclusion that I will never fit in at Church. Yes, I know, you’re supposed to go Church for spiritual nourishment. Sadly, due to the behavior of certain individuals I have come in contact with on-line, I no longer feel I would be welcome at Church. I will never fit the stereotypical image of an LDS woman. My spiritual needs will be met through my own personal study of the gospel. Also, no one will have to smell cigarette smoke if they were to come in contact with me at church. That’s a sure sign that I’m not a candidate for rebaptism.
Sorry for the downer post.

GuestSo very sorry to hear the actions of some people have caused you to feel unwelcome. I hope we can all remember they are only a portion of the whole – a vocal portion perhaps, but not the whole. I wish you peace on your journey, and feel free to stay with us online to kick around ideas.

GuestKalola, I hope you know I love hearing from you, so I hope you will continue to participate here. I know the purpose is to “StayLDS” – but in cases like yours, I think that tent can be extended to include you. I also hope you continue to check out my personal blog. I really like your contributions there.
Oh, and if I can arrange a job here, feel free to move to my ward. I guarantee you and your unique scent would be welcome.

GuestRegardless of where you go or the path you take, keep moving forward. It may not be back into the LDS Church. I am glad you mentioned personal study. You are always welcome here if you want to talk about religious and spiritual ideas. I’m sorry to hear someone made you feel unwelcome. You would be welcome around me.

I guarantee you and your unique scent would be welcome. Was it President Kimball who made a comment once that he welcomed the smell of cigarette smoke at church?
I want to thank each of you for your kind words.

GuestKalola, I agree with Ray. The tent is certainly big enough for you to be here as well. My previous stake president once said at stake conference that he would personally put ashtrays outside every door of the stake center if that was what it took to convince people both in and out of the church that we welcome ALL people to come to Christ. Guesthawkgrrrl, I think I love that man. I’m certainly going to share that more than once. March 16, 2009 at 9:07 pm #215988Anonymous
GuestKalola, I am the most judgmental of people. And on behalf of all of us, I offer you my weak, but sincere apology. Come as you are.
