We have been counseled at church to be active in politics and to seek out “good” individuals for public office. I am of the opinion that in the USA there are only two parties that are meaningful and that neither seem to supply good individuals for public office. I am unable to support either party. Not because both parties are equally wrong. It is my opinion that one is much more dangerous to our freedoms and liberties than the other. It is like would you rather die from sickness or be eaten by a lion. With luck you may be able to recover from a sickness. I am currently quite disappointed by many prominent LDS involved in politics.

This thread is not about who we should vote or not vote for – but rather that I believe it is unwise to become involved in what I call the political rhetoric of hate. It seems to me that whatever the government does – it gets messed up. I have been asked who I think is the greatest president of my lifetime. I respond with Dwight D Eisenhower. I am then asked, “Why him – he did not do anything”. To which I respond – exactly.

I very much appreciate that our church refuses to support candidates or parties.
