Guest“Church/non church, Spiritual/temporal it really is all the same I think. You fit them all in when time allows 24/7” This is a direct quote from my bishop and I thought it was a really cool statement. Basically the idea that life is to enjoy and make the most of, no matter what the activity. Also perhaps meaning that getting the right balance is vital.
Just sharing… It made my day and reminded me that there are healthy attitudes out there among the leaders.

GuestCool Bishop. We need more of those types. Beats the phrase from a former Bishop: “Some people organise the church around their life while other (implying ‘the righteous’) organise their life around the church”
On the other hand another former Bishop ran a half-marathon while he was the Bishop. He joked with me that he’d told his inactive, drinking, smoking brother that it was his chance to show the word of wisdom really does make you ‘run and not be weary.’ He saw the funny side when his brother beat him.
Awesome guy (this is also the guy who told me that in certain cases, like a when a new baby has killed their sex life or an unmatched libido, that he felt it ok for the husband to have an occasional private moment in the shower. Especially if it helped stop them putting pressure on his wife or resorting to porn. He was a doctor, so probably brought that perspective with him).

GuestIf a Bishop of mine ever said that to me, I would grin and say something like: Quote:I’ll tell that to Pres. Packer next time he says the members aren’t meant to staff the Church – that the Church is meant to bless the members.
