GuestPardon my odd/quirky/warped sense of humor on such a sensitive topic, but my wife got a small little colored clay pot with a lid that has the word “family” on it. She put it in the kitchen and she got a bit upset when I commented that to me it looked like an urn for a little dog’s ashes that our family was very close to. That didn’t go over very good. GuestNibbler, that was pure awesomeness. I knew someone who kept his brother’s ashes in a Cheese Whiz can in the closet. He thought it appropriate for his brother. Maybe it was .. But I don’t want to end up like that.

GuestFrom an environmental viewpoint I think cremation is a good idea. All that real-estate devoted to the dead seems a little out of date. Personally I think a Viking funeral would be awesome.

GuestViking funeral would cost way too much. Down-sizing would end up looking like air-filled kiddie pool and water wings .. Or look too much like a New Years Eve Offering to the pagan goddess Iemanjá. https://journeyingtothegoddess.wordpress.com/2012/02/09/goddess-iemanja/ Full sized Viking boat would be cool.

GuestDeath rites, funeral services, and burial practices are meant to be meaningful for the individual that is dying and for the family and loved one’s left behind. I support individuals and families doing whatever brings them a measure of comfort (as long as it doesn’t harm anyone or break the law).
