Hmmm. The post in the queue awaiting approval and purportedly from Lindsay Van Allen shows up as the same IP address as Sue, who is posting some odd stuff about her return to church. The email address associated with that account is also a bit suspicious. I say we hold off on approval while we investigate a bit more. Mike

You’re right, Nibbler, perhaps I should have specified the same ISP in the same area (Middletown, NY). However, the Van Allens supposedly live in Missouri. Maybe there’s soemthingI’m missing by just quickly glancing. My other question is if it is Lindsay Van Allen and she clearly states that in the post, why not in the user name?
If wornoutsneakers is now posting as sue (which seems certain), I say we ban them both. There were credibility issues back when wos was posting, and I have enough alarms going off in my head over all the unbelievable stuff in the latest thread from sue that I think we are being trolled. What do you all think?
I wouldn’t be too hasty to ban sue and wornoutsneakers. I checked and there’s some significant passage of time between wornoutsneakers’ last post and sue’s first post. It could be: 1) A forgotten password, though odd since that sort of thing can be rectified via e-mail. Maybe they also dropped an e-mail account.
2) At one point I was curious about changing my user name and noticed that as a regular I couldn’t do it. Maybe they just wanted to change their name, but couldn’t reuse the e-mail address when re-registering.
If there was overlap, both users posting at the same time but passing themselves off as two different people then that’s a whole other story.
I just bumped up the initial discussion we had when wos started posting. That is why I say we are being trolled. The stories are different AND they both contain over-the-top inconsistencies that just scream troll. Seriously, when I realized sue is wornoutsneakers, it all made sense.

It is odd but you never know where these things are tunneled through. At work it looks like I’m posting from the bay area. I think I’ve been tunneled through other states when connecting from home as well. Like you go to google and they show the “local” stores but they’re local to your IP.
It is a big coincidence though.
I had forgotten about that other intro. “The returning experience” thread suddenly makes more sense now as well. A ward boundary rewrite that makes someone’s commute five times longer and getting kicked out of your seat three times in a row. I’m inclined to agree with the troll assessment.
Plus, an entire stake (with only four wards) being redrawn with everyone being released at once?!?! Yeah, I didn’t put two and two together there, either. I don’t know why, though, because they were very similar on the bizarre meter. Perhaps she’s just someone seeking attention, perhaps she’s a troll, perhaps she has some real mental issues.
Sue sent an email to the admin address asking why she had been banned. I just straight up told her the moderators were concerned with her posts, and were investigating the server logs to verify if she was posting using more than one account (sock puppets). I just left it at that. I thought I would see how she responds. Thanks, Brian. If she simply is disturbed, that is one thing; however, her two stories (as wornoutsneakers and sue) don’t match and are flat-out unbelievable. Either way, I don’t think we can help her.
