But I won’t be trying to impose either on anyone and I think that’s perfectly ethical.

What did you think of this thread? http://forum.newordermormon.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34610” class=”bbcode_url”>http://forum.newordermormon.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34610

I completely agree with your posts in the thread. Especially this:

I think intent is everything here.

Glad to see you’re still a voice for balance on NOM. It’s become so much like RfM that I’ve stopped going there. I’ve also completely stopped the MDDB (MADBoard) participation (I was/am canard78 over there).

I wouldn’t promote mormonthink to an unsuspecting audience (essentially what this thread is suggesting). I thought your point about buddhistthink etc was well made.

By the same token, I wouldn’t hand out ‘I’m a Mormon’ passalong cards to people at work/neighbours. They’ve not asked.

But then… if someone genuinely feels they’ve found a better way of life (e.g. – Mormon or exmormon) is it unethical to want to share that (with non-members or current members respectively)? If it’s a genuine motive I don’t think it’s necessarily unethical to want to share that. But neither sit very comfortably with me any more. It just seems an imposition (on both sides) if it’s unsolicited.

Cwald, loved your episode. Let me know if you ever come back to CV, I’ll buy you a cold one.

Thanks. For a minute I thought I had gone fuvkinh nuts.

I don’t know what to do or say on these boards (NOM/STAYLDS) anymore. Damned if you do, Damned if you don’t.

Haha. Trust me, I know when to stay away. I’m just curious what they are. I hate seeing acronyms that I don’t understand. :)

Sorry, recoveryfrommormonism (exmo forum), mormondialogue discussion board (apologists’ forum, very combative).

Sorry to hear that about MDBB. I used to visit RfM years ago – it was far too negative, and there was some aggressive missionizing by militant atheists on there, to the exclusion of other POVs. I often wonder if the word “recovery” is appropriate in some cases. It’s always a shame when one opinion takes over. At least this board is usually civil.

I listened to the Beer Snob episode last night on my commute home from work. I thought it went really well. Your audio essay was powerful. No matter how many times I hear your story, it breaks my heart again all over. Your such a great guy, CWald (and your wife). Hope to see you again if you make it out to Wash DC like last summer. That orange peel, rye IPA sounds rather tasty. You’re hardcore dude, growing your own hops. :-)

I agree Brian. Just completely unneeded. Heavy hand approach wasn’t necessary.

The essay was my favourite part. You’re a natural story teller cwald (though I did keep imagining it being read by a little green alien)

    Thanks.

    I liked the essay.

    I didn’t like the interview.

The uncut version was 25 minutes long. Lots of beer science talk.

Yep. Just popped back to MDDB to see if I could get more info on the new church history seminary manual.

Within minutes I wanted to cyber punch some people. Some of the long-term posters are so scathingly rude. I participated a long time (3,500 posts). Partly to try to test my assumptions and partly to try to be a voice of reason. There are a few people who have really helped me and I value their input. But I often ended up feeling wound up and frustrated by the antagonism. I can do without that kind of negativity.

Thanks. I hope I didn’t cross a line when I mentioned your SP? If so, sorry. I asked then to cut all that, and the conversation about Nathan. But I was working with Matt, and he got tied up in a criminal case and I think Glenn did the editing and didn’t get the message?

I expect to be in DC summer of 2015.
