I think that it is a combination of nerves and true emotion 95% of the time. I tear up when speaking but I don’t like to do it so I know that it is not something I do for show. I like that people are allowed to tear up in public when they are truly touched but I will admit that there are a few that get weepy when they talk about going out to the mailbox, or turn on the TV and some times it gets on my nerves but to each their own.
It doesn’t really bother me when others cry frequently, but I don’t understand it. I always cry at funerals, and I’ve cried at a beautiful passage in a book, but I don’t think I’ve ever cried at the pulpit. I don’t know why.
