I’m stepping into this way late. But FWIW, I support your decision to leave the ban in place. StayLDS is not the right community for CWald anymore. It hasn’t been for a long time. I personally like him. We’ve hung out a couple times in person when he visits DC. We used to talk on the phone occasionally, but that’s been a while. I would gladly hang out with him in the future. I don’t think he has been adding anything meaningful for a while. I can’t fault that, I don’t think I could add anything meaningful either. That’s why I stepped away. I still support the mission of this site 100% and defend its existence whenever it is rarely brought up in conversations that I am in. StayLDS is a specific community with a narrow purpose. That purpose has not changed. People over there (and CWald) are acting like it’s some big surprise?
😆 There has never been ANYthing unclear about this community. It may not be the biggest on the internet, but I would say it has been one of the most consistent over the many years of existence.
Thanks for everyone’s input. I sent him a PM at NOM. I told cwald that Brian specifically did not want anything to do with him here at this site (it was mostly Brian’s fault) and Ray was fighting to keep cwald unbanned but Brian would have nothing of it, then Hawk came in with a left hook and nibbler tried to stay on the sidelines but DJ went for the jugular just before Orson threw food at mom3 and Roy, and Ann yelled at us to all stop acting like children…. and it was mass hysteria on the mod board….

Like Hawk said…expect the NOM thread to be updated. I will not be checking it out. I have other things to do.
He can PM me or Hawk if he wants from the NOM board. Should I hear a response I will let you all know.
You are all cool people in my book. It was a good exercise in mod-ing together as a team.

There’s a really interesting post in Support: “something remarkable happened at church yesterday.” There are two parts and only one of the two threads has both parts. But it’s a great story and worth the time to read, I think.

I also support the decision. I did not read it as making his return conditional upon reactivating in the church but only that he would want to stay connected to his LDSness in whatever way (even if that is only through participating online). I went back and re-read Ray’s comments and I see how you could have interpreted it like you did but that does not appear to be how it was intended (got that?)

Yeah, that wording was sloppy. Instead of “activity”, I meant “engagement” – which is something entirely different. I believe he is completely inactive at this point and not even trying to maintain respectful dialogue with his family, for example – and I don’t think he is trying to find a way to re-engage with his branch. If he has no interest whatsoever in staying LDS to some degree, we can’t help him. That is what I meant.

😆 😆 😆 Ray, is his profile gone and deleted? Or is just hidden? He doesn’t seem to care about coming back when I told him we will leave the ban in place. But he wishes his posts for the past 4 or 5 years still had the Alien avatar and post count.
Just to make peace, could we give him that…in case he does want support to come back some day? (or just as goodwill for a long time contributor)?
