    I left his posts and comments in place, which kept his name attached to them. I didn’t realize the avatar and stat information would disappear.

    I will check and see if I can find a way to restore the profile, at least. If not, tell him that this was my mistake, since I truly thought that info would remain with his comments and posts.

    You can’t restore a user once they are deleted. There’s no avatar for those posts now because there’s no user account.

    There are a couple possible reconstruction solutions to restoring a deleted user, but they involve installing additional software tools (which I might not be able to do on our server) or running some sketchy SQL database commands that I found, but those are dated 2009 and are probably out of date. So they might screw up the whole database. It would take me a long time to figure out and test all that.

    Bottom line, not really worth fixing for the vanity avatar 🙂

    Also, he and I texted back and forth briefly. We’re going to hang out and chat 1st week of July when he is visiting DC. It sounds like he is over it, anyway. But I’ll let him vent and commiserate a bit with him over some suds.
