Is he? If I just want the most detailed, accurate picture of some of the complicated events. I know I may not agree with his conclusions, but I’m just asking about the material he presents.

It seems that people like Richard Bushman have a lot of respect for him and his work.

He is not just dismissed. I think a lot of his work stands on its own as facts. Make of them what you will.

A lot of his work is publishing original sources. I take him as a credible historian with personal conclusions that I don’t always agree with.

Thanks. I enjoyed reading that, especially his thoughts about the “second quest” for the historical Joseph. The first quest, he seems to be saying, has left us with

    Quote:

“these very different approaches, [and] Joseph seems to be slipping deeper into the earth, even as we dig for him.”

He also says that “Vogel’s data actually supports Bushman’s conclusions better than do his own.”
