I may be splitting hairs, but Cwald, if you get a chance, could you post a link to the thread you mentioned about SPG & Moroni visits?…Nope. It’s not important. I’m moving on to other discussion.
It would’ve been nice if you’d moved on before bad mouthing someone behind their back. February 14, 2012 at 6:50 pm #250014Anonymous

Fine, I will spend the time to read and hunt through a year worth of posts to find the threads…or…
if say, Spock or another NOM will just back me up on this, would you believe me? Or maybe you should just PM SPG and ask him yourself. It’s not a secret. Personally, I don’t think I was bad mouthing SPG behind his back. He’s pretty open about his visitations.

I can’t recall reading that one directly, but I can’t claim I read every single post on NOM (way too many). I could totally believe SPG might share something like that. It would not be out of character, and I don’t think he would take offense even if someone mistakenly attributed a visitation from Moroni to him. He’s pretty far out (and I mean that in a nice way, I like his posts and ideas).

I remember Self Proclaimed Greatness talking about this and I don’t even read very many topics at NOM, mostly just the ones about porn, the decline/future of the LDS Church, whether or not the LDS Church is a cult, and the strain the LDS Church has caused in some people’s marriages. However, this was a while ago so I wouldn’t necessarily want to go back and try to find this specific post. I actually like Self Proclaimed Greatness more than all the religion-hating atheists at NOM but I didn’t know what to think about this comment about Moroni. By the way, maybe it’s just a coincidence but Moroni is also the capital city of the Comoros islands (by Africa). It sounds like the word means “in the heart of the fire” there.

I’d appreciate it if you would post it.SPG seems “out there” to others… but he’s, IMO, more spiritually accurate (like he’s thought & felt it through more) than most & that’s why he seems “out there.” Countless times, I’ve seen him explain something spiritually & people completely misinterpret it, which I think may have happened with you & the Moroni issue.
Cwald, If someone said something questionable about you and I knew you better, as a good friend, I’d stick up for you too.

GuestCwald, I think I found the thread you were talking about (just googled it & it popped up).
I’ll start a new thread, though. I think I’ll call it, “Angels like Moroni.” I’ll put it in the spiritual subforum.

I think that’s because the psychological benefit of marriage for men is that most of them depend on a wife to create their social network for them. No wife, no social network. No social network, no feedback loop, no fashion advice, and no support network. So men can get isolated and weird more easily than women.
😆 “It is not good for the man to be alone.” -Genesis 2:18
God figured that one out already by the second chapter of his book, it was THAT obvious.

I wish the whole thing could have been made easier.

GuestI have felt a bit uneasy about this topic right from the start, frankly – which is why I’ve only made one very short, very narrowly-focused comment. I am closing it now, with an apology to Sam for not doing so sooner, before it gets even more hurtful for those who read this site and are in the group being discussed. -
