As I said early on, the answer to the title question depends entirely on one’s view of Jesus’ resurrection and guidance thereafter.

There’s that old point of view thing I champion so often, Ray. Thanks for reiterating – sometimes even I need to be reminded that “Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.”

I agree that there are many similarities. But are they similar because JS tried to duplicate the church Christ probably organized? Or did they just naturally ended up resembling each other? Did Peter and the other apostles hold the Priesthood the same way we do now?

That’s just it, Don’tKnow – it depends on your point of view. God could have revealed it to JS, or at least inspired him. Or, JS could have just thrown together ideas from other churches of his day and it just turned out that somewhat matches. Likewise with Peter – the scriptures don’t clearly say, we don’t read Peter saying he holds the keys the same way we hear modern prophets say so – but we do have recorded what Jesus said to him. It depends on your point of view and what you believe.
