GuestI recently joined StitchFix. They send you 5 pieces of clothing and accessories that you can decide to keep or send back. Although I asked that they not send me sleeveless, both the blouse and maxi dress they sent were sleeveless, but otherwise I really liked them. Honestly, they weren’t revealing or whatever. It is infuriating that the garments can’t be made without the cap sleeves. But I digress. I came up with a clever solution for the maxi dress. It was fully lined and the shoulders had some extra fabric and elastic. Once I removed the elastic, I found there was enough fabric to make a cap sleeve, but I needed some more “lining” material. Well, guess what was the perfect size? The cap sleeves from an old pair of drisylque garments. Problem solved.

So let me get this straight; a part of what you’re paying for is a “personal style expert” who is somehow unfamiliar with such technical clothing industry terms as “sleeveless?”

GuestAfter 3 boxes of Stitch Fix, I cancelled. They were getting worse instead of better. They need to add a few categories for Mormon/Muslim/Orthodox Jew/Evangelical

Hmm, interesting. I have never heard garment disposal discussed in an open setting.
Did he give any more insight into what the ‘destroy’ part of ‘cut up and destroy’ means?
No, a discussion ensued about how the bishopric member has a separate hamper for garments but that he personally does not wash them separately – they go in with other whites.
I personally would just cut up to markings like I do when disposing of old credit cards. I assume that the purpose is to keep the markings out of the hands of our enemies/people that dig around in landfills.
I say, “I would” because I do not believe that I have ever disposed of garments myself. Somehow my threadbare garments keep disappearing in the wash…
