GuestAs a woman, I can look at the culture of the Church and how women are treated and I have a few choices. 1. I can just conform, go with it, and feel like my soul and spirit were sucked away.
2. I can question quietly and constantly and be ostracized by the community.
3. I can stage a rebellion and be excommunicated in grand style.
4. I can focus on God, take a step away from the church, and state that I don’t care.
No option is great. #4 is the only one that works with self, family, and community.

GuestEndowed women already hold the Priesthood, and they already are told they are prepared to officiate in the ordinances of the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods. If a change was announced tomorrow and framed in terms of extending the existing Priesthood power and authority women already hold through the temple endowment, most LDS women, I believe, would accept it without question – even if they don’t want it now. The difference is that women aren’t in position where they hold Priesthood keys, and those who are (male) haven’t “exercised those keys” to allow women to be ordained to offices in the Priesthood that would allow them to hold keys, perform ordinances outside the temple and lead people through those offices. It’s an authorization issue, not a possession issue, primarily – and that distinction illustrates the heart of the issue in more than one way.
Finally, most people accept the status quo, even when it is a new status quo (after some indigestion and angst).

Yeah, #4 sounds like the best choice to me. Though we could probably write a book about the consequences of making any one of those choices.
I wish there was the option to question openly and engage others in discussion.
