Are there any actual support groups or groups of friends that meet in person? I live in Boise Idaho and would really love to find or start a group but I don’t know where to start and if that sort of thing is encouraged in this forum.

I have been going through my FC for several years now but things have taken a turn for the worse in the last few weeks (probably due to the Kate Kelly and JD stuff). I’m going to have to start spending more time in here looking for help but I would love to meet anyone who could offer help or would just want to chat.

There is a huge NOM hub in the Boise area.

ME is recording in Boise sometime this month.

Chech out the NOM gathering forum for details.

There are a few of us stayldsers that meet here in Oregon on occasion. I’m hoping to meet up with church333 this week in Eugene.

I live in Carson City and travel northern Nevada occasionally. If you ever are in the area, I’d be happy to get together. I did that with a few people when I was in Phoenix a little while ago.

I love getting together with folks, too, but I’m mostly stuck in Scottsdale lately, so kind of has to be on my turf due to my current schedule.

After interacting with you all for several years, and having a certain amount of trust built up (in spite of the intimate details of my life I’ve shared), I’ve often had inkling to meet some of you. I realized that many of you are the only constants in my life from a friendship perspective, next to my immediate family.

Elder Bednar said that friendships need the physical body (speaking out against Second Life), but I’m not so sure. We all claim to have relationships with God, yet we never interact with his physical body.

Yes, SD, I also consider some people here (including you) to be very close friends, no physical presence required. I understand what Elder Bednar may have been trying to convey – people do need friends in the flesh as well, and only online interaction (with no face-to-face interaction) is probably not healthy. Not to worry, I have friends where I live as well.

I have not met anybody live, but I wouldn’t mind. I live in a rural area in the eastern US, far from most of you. However, if anyone were to mention they planned to be in my area I certainly would try to make a meet up happen. I am going to be going to the Hill Cumorah Pageant, BTW, I just haven’t decided which night yet.

I live in Eastern Oregon close to I-84. I don’t get out much but would welcome visitors. PM me if interested.

I agree that I consider people here to be my friends – even many that no longer participate. You all have become part of my journey.

There are times I’ve wanted to some of you in person. Like Mike, I live in the midwest. The northern portion of Illinois. I live near the city Kevin Kloostermen, a friend of mine, lives in. I’m normally a loner, so I don’t have very many friends. I am close friends with my parents and a couple friends that live near me. If anyone here wants to get to know me in person, please email me. I’m pretty talkative in one-on-one conversations. 🙂

I live in Idaho Falls. I have a daughter her in IF, another in Reno, another in the Denver area, and another in River Falls, WI. I see them fairly often. I’ve almost met up with Ray a couple of times but the meets have fallen through.

I think an in-person support group would be a fantastic idea. How about the moderators add a whole different section for meetings? We could post threads based on geography and update them with meetings. Thoughts?

I think in person meetups would be fun, even though I’ve been AWOL from all my favorite message boards for a while. There are at least four people in my stake who post here (to my knowledge). Mormonism makes for a very small world.

Yeah, they say you’re connected to anyone in the world through “six degrees of separation.” I’m convinced in the Mormon world it’s three, at the most.

I think in-person meetings are a great idea. Anyone in Utah feel free to pm me.
