Unfortunately, “pure mormonism” is not taught in our culture, nor is it the focus of most LDS members.

True. It may not be taught by our culture, but it IS taught in our scriptures, by our prophets and through our personal practice and implementation of those “revelations.” We shouldn’t depend on being taught by our culture anyways, as that is “depending upon the arm of flesh,” being rejected constantly by all the great spiritual masters (Jesus definitely made this a focal point of his earthly ministry). Our culture should teach us about food, family, social structure and how to survive in the context of our environment. The “Spirit” should teach us about the divine, which is at the core of Pure Mormonism.
