Joseph Campbell quote, from Pathways to Bliss:

“Don’t try to live your life too soon. By listening too much to gurus, you try to jump over the whole darn thing and back off and become wise before you’re experienced that in relation to which there is some point to being wise. This thing, wisdom, has to come gradually.”

    I LOVE it!

I have to remind myself of this often. I have to look at this as a life process and not like learning a math lesson or something. We’re so used to having all the answers, the way of not knowing is startlingly different.

Sometimes patience is hard, and we forget to “Be still, and know that I am God” while letting the details percolate until they are consumable to us individually.

Wise words. It reminds me that nothing meaningful comes easy.

Just Me, “the way of not knowing” reminds me of being like a child. Children don’t have all the answers.

What a great quote! Going along with the idea in this quote, I try to see joy in the journey of becoming more wise. Rather than being frustrated that I don’t have it all figured out yet, I try to focus on the joy I get from learning it.

Yeah, sometimes we want to BE so badly that we forget to BECOME – and we end up choking when we bite off more than we can chew.

…and I think the whole purpose is the experience to pass through is what is of worth. The more I try to know something, the more I learn how much more there is to learn. I think there is great value in finding joy today, while I’m experiencing things, regardless of how foolish I really am…it is less about being perfect and more about the joy that comes when one exerts the effort to BECOME perfect.
