Erm, not really. If you are dreaming about crocodiles (and something tells me you’re probably not), then you should not be so literalist in your interpretation.
Could have been alligators. I wasn’t really paying that much attention to snout shape.

Never been an issue in the past, but of course now if the situation ever arises, I’m sure I’ll remember this post.July 5, 2015 at 10:37 am #301144Anonymous

However, I’m pretty sure you made up that dream to begin with.

Nope. The alligator bit was my least favorite part of the anaesthesia.

GuestI was ill recently – you’d think my fever dreams would consist of the likes of Coleridge’s Xanadu or something approaching an LSD trip, but what did I see instead? The making of office furniture. I kid you not. I was building the things in my mind from the chrome casters, to the plywood work surfaces… and no, I’m not making that up. That’s how boring they were. However, one bit of spiritual advice did pop out, “be the message you seek”. I’m sure that’s not even original and probably half-remembered from somewhere else too.

I once had a dream about – literally – watching grass grow. Actual speed. A good six inches of growth. I could have sworn I’d slept for weeks.

GuestHad 3 nightmares last night. What a pleasant and beautiful night!….(NOT!) Final dream is still vivid in my mind. All of my nightmares,..the ones that are really choice and all that (sarcastic!!!),…always involve some pretty scary stuff.
In this dream, a friend of mine was teaching the Gospel to a man and his wife. They were pentacostal of some type, and this guy had a blank meaningless smile on his face when I came into the room. For some reason I chose to engage the conversation, and after a while with no progress, the thought occurred to me from his VERY strange behavior and the general creepy nature of the room and all, that this man was possessed. In a last ditch effort, I raised my had and did the “get the hence Satan” thing,..while this guy recoiled in shock. Well, it didn’t work, and he told me that if he had Satan in himself, he would cast him out himself as well. At this point, with the way things changed in the dream, it was clear he WAS possessed. My companion and I (it was like a mission dream of sorts…strange) left fast.
Well, it was a flying dream, so we took of flying home. (Usually love those dreams), and this guy came out of his house as well, carrying his wife and following us. Things got more creepy,…and we circled around and told him he had better not be following us,..and it got more creepy,..and there were words exchanged,…and then that wonderful “can’t move and tongue cleaving to the roof of my mouth”..and all that … and woke in sweat.
Interpretation?…I had a nightmare, and it sucked. end of story.
Almost all of my nightmares involved evil spirits. IN fact, even when I was a little child,..VERY little, I had those.
I will share a really juicy nightmare I had as a child later. Too bad it isn’t October…it would probably make more sense if it was.

This is why I always pray to have un scary dreams in my prayers before going to bed. I pray to “Have only unscary dreams”. It helps I guess, I don’t have nightmares as I don’t know exactly if something is a nightmare, but it doesn’t scare me, though the dream may be startling. You could try that out and see if it works.

GuestOK…here is a really good one….. When I was a young child, I had the strangest dream. In that dream, my brother, who is 15 years older than I, called and said they were having a wolf problem up in the north, and if I would go hunting with him to try to help solve it. I don’t recall where exactly, but that for some reason I was needed. I went with him, and we were armed with either heavy shotguns or rifles. The woods were eerie and dead, large trees with very little leaves, but it was dark outside and misty–you know, kindof like the typical Dracula movie or something. Well, a wolf jumped out behind a tree and began to run across the pathway. I took aim, fired, and hit it, killing it. Then, we immediately found ourselves surrounded. My brother and I ran for the nearest tree, and he, being older and more athletic, sprang successfully into the nearest. I began to clamber to he best of my ability and felt two wolf claws bury into my shoulders. They turned into human hands and began to pull me down. My brother, who was facing me at this time, saw what was happening, got a horrified alarmed look on his face, and grabbed me with both hands, yanking me into the tree as fast as possible.
The dream shifted. I was in my room at home, but the wolves, angry at the damage I had done, had followed me home. I came out of my bedroom, in the basement, and began to turn the corner for going upstairs. Now, in the darkest part of the basement, in the darkest part of the home, I saw a dark shadow of a figure approach me. It was a very tall man,…just a completely dark shadow of a person, but he had a wolf’s head. He turned and I could see two slightly glowing eyes in a totally black shadow of a form fix on me. I was paralized, unable to move or speak. He approached me with serious intent to harm.
Woke up in sweat and terrified as a little boy.
Interpretation? this one I don’t know about. But generally I think I was watching too much TV.
Had that dream about 40 years ago. Still remember pieces of it clearly. Almost wanted to use the theme for a book write. Halloween stuff in that dream.

GuestOh,…let me follow up with one other thing. All of my dreams are NOT nightmares. I once had the coolest dream. I had written a symphony (I am into music a fair amount), and was standing at the conductor station with an entire symphony orchestra in front of me. I had the score I had written in front of me, and I was conducting the music. I could hear it all, I could feel the tempo, the dynamics, and feel the baton in my hand. I was reading the music and furiously trying to keep up with the music I had written. When I awoke, I could have sang the songs as they were still fresh in my mind.
During that particular dream, I could almost feel my mind lit up like a Christmas tree…the work going on in there while I was asleep was daunting! It was a really cool and strange dream. Loved that one….just loved it.
Interpretaton?….Ha…I have to work on my own sight reading! I couldn’t keep up with my own music! LOL
OK…enough trivial stuff. I am having a bit of fun with this thread.

Careful; that was one of my “weird, but then it happened just like the dream a couple weeks later” dreams. I was driving an unfamiliar red Honda with a manual transmission, and got stopped along the main street of a nearby town for an equipment violation. Two weeks later a friend asked me to come help her with the car she’d just bought; a red 5-speed Accord. Got it running, took it out to make sure it was solid, and realized it was the car from the dream about two seconds before the disco lights came on in the exact spot it happened in the dream.

Do you do this in real life?

No….never had that problem. But,…I will confess something: in Utah (I don’t know what it is like in other states), when I grew up you had to take “Driver’s Education” in highschool, and then get your license through that. I never took the class. I did have a driving coach who took me out a few times, and he said: “OK, lets do a test and see how you are doing…”
I got 3 automatic fails! I ran a red light, I ran a stop sign, and I ran a pedestrian off the road!
He said: “OK,…I guess you are ready to go and get your license!”
I did!

GuestSometimes those kinds of dreams are to flag up something you are doing. So it can pay to take notice of them. But I suppose running a red light has several obvious symbolic interpretations – you’re doing something that you feel you shouldn’t deep down; you’re taking risks/flirting with danger; or you’re doing something other people tell you that you shouldn’t.
(By the way, I have been running a few red lights myself. There’s a set near me which stays stuck for ages, but at night, no one comes out of the sideroad and there’s a good view down it. Keep on thinking I’ll get busted though.)
