GuestI just wanted to acknowledge the Church’s recent efforts to make Easter a bigger deal within the Church. As someone who once attended an Easter Sunday SM where no talks were about Easter, there were no Easter songs, and Easter was not even mentioned, I do appreciate that the church has made some effort over the past few years with the Because of Him spots. And I think Come Follow Me also made a curriculum step with Easter centered study, and presumably Sunday School lesson. Prior SS/Primary/etc. manuals didn’t expressly have Easter lessons. So while I’m still not very likely to invite my friends to Easter church, I think I feel better about it now than I would have in the past. Note: My own ward has generally done a good job with Easter over the years, at least for SM. Having lived other places and having read other stories I do count myself lucky in that respect. To my surprise this year we even sang Easter songs last week – that was a first ever for me.

GuestI love that the new Sunday School manual paused the chapter-focused lessons and has one focused exclusively on Easter. April 21, 2019 at 1:05 am #335320Anonymous

Back in the days before faith transition when I was Gospel Doctrine teacher I used to struggle with this at Easter and at Christmas. I, too, am glad for the pause and I hope it’s not just this year we do it just because we’re doing the NT this year. BTW, I did “look ahead” and there is a dedicated Christmas week of study as well, interrupting the Book of revelation.
