GuestHas anyone read Extensions of Power by Quinn and would be willing to say a few things about it? I’ve read two extracts recently, one on the history of tithing and another on the conflict between Ezra Taft Benson and the First Presidency regarding the John Birch society. In both of these cases I was absolutely hooked and couldn’t put them down. Every spare moment was spend reading!
Also, does anyone know where to get hold of it electronically? It is available on Amazon though (although searching Amazon for “extensions of power” is quite amusing!).

GuestI have read it. To be honest it spent a lot of time talking about 19th century utah politics, which I found tedious and pedantic. Once it got to the 20th century it was very interesting. It is worth the read, but would skip the several chapters on politics unless you are into that kind of history. I don’t know about an electronic version. I got mine from the library. GuestThanks for that HPMBH. Tbh, I don’t think an electronic version exsists. Will be weird leaving my Kobo to one side and reading a proper book for a change.
I think I’ll be buying it as the libraries here in the UK don’t seem to have it anywhere.

GuestI’ve read Origins of Power, and parts of Extensions of Power. I just purchased it myself. Chapter 6 is available at the Signature Books website: http://signaturebooks.com/2010/10/excerpt-extensions-of-power/ February 5, 2013 at 11:01 pm #264699Anonymous
GuestThanks for that Mormonheretic. I read that a few weeks ago and couldn’t put it down. Absolutely fascinating. -
