I am finding a nuanced way to believe, unorthodox if you will. God Bless.

Better (and more socially acceptable) terms are heterodox and orthoprax. I totally get what your saying with unorthodox, but again it’s not binary – none of us are either fully orthodox or unorthodox.

I guess what it boils down to – is do you want to be there and do you know why?

Right now, I am not even sure that I am a Christian, but I want to be there at church because these people are good people for me and my family to be around and it makes my home life easier. I probably won at leadership roulette (for now) – but no one gets to decide for me if/when I am leaving as long as I do my part to belong to the community and talk through the terms. There are those who would consider this a “lack of faith” (which is accurate), but their perception is not my problem (though my projection that influences their perception is my problem).

Exactly. Well said. If you have your reasons for wanting to be there, that’s all that matters. It doesn’t have to be others’ reasons.
