By using only snippets of your writings, I certainly don’t mean to change the meaning or context of anything and I hope you will correct any misunderstandings I might have. I am left wondering if you believe in an actually personage of any kind. I don’t mean that disrespectfully at all.

And in answer to your question, I neither believe nor disbelieve in a ‘personage’ of god. It’s unknowable and unprovable, thus, I suspend judgement. Whether or not there is a being ‘out there’ the last six inches of divine communication is ‘in here’. From an LDS point of view, if the holy ghost, a member of the godhead, is my constant companion by virtue of the gift of the holy ghost, then a ‘god’ is here inside of me — a separate entity from my consciousness, but still resident within. What ‘god’ the father is to me, what is the ‘son’, is deep and personal, and I have no issue explaining that to any bishop or stake president who asks. Virtually all the leaders here know my positions, and are quite comfortable supporting and sustaining me as a TR holder.

But before we go further, it may be helpful if you answered my questions in your ‘intro’ thread. I have found that it is a great disservice to discuss these things with those who are trying to repair their faith. I am very happy that my wife and I were true believing LDS through my 20s and much of my 30s. It served us well, providing structure and guidance to raise our children, and helped us have support from friends and teachings in the gospel. If you’re comfortable with the correlated teachings of the church, then please, just accept the material the way it’s being presented to you by the church, and concentrate your efforts on being the best LDS husband and father you can be.

Deconstructing the tenets of mormonism does not automatically lead to happiness. Sorting out religious teachings and history is a quagmire that can only disrupt your peace of mind. In the 25 years since i started this faith journey, I have explored virtually all world religions, and come back to mormonism as it is my tribe and home. there have been many difficulties as i had to peel away a lifetime of indoctrination to discover the truth. it can be a horrifying experience, and very depressing to go through. Although I am now quite happy with my spiritual understanding, I would not will my journey on anyone.

“The creeds” was not very specific as there are thousands of them.

There are less than a dozen christian creeds, and in current Christian use, only about three. they all share a common concept of a god that is distinct from and above humanity. the “god of the creeds” is a pretty clear concept, but oh well.

    peace.

I want to be sure everyone knows that I seek Jesus Christ above all else. That means I love peace and seek to have charity. I really hope to have more of the pure love of Christ. I can say now that I feel that for all of you at this time…and I hope it stays.

I am posting this on the “Support so I can find my way…” thread as well.

Nah, almost all threads eventually fade away into the archives. :D
