GuestI came across a Buddhist quote a few minutes ago that is unattributed in my notes. I want to share it here, since it deals so centrally with one of our core missions – in fact, perhaps our core mission: Quote:If you can’t find peace within yourself, you will never find it anywhere else.
It reminds me of the need to love yourself first and then love others “as yourself”. It’s interesting that the second law is predicated on the first – loving God. I believe that means seeing yourself as a child of God, loved by God, worthy of being loved by God, acceptable to God, etc. – and then seeing everyone else as children of God in the same way. God can be taken out of that picture for some people, but the concept remains:
Quote:Love yourself, in the proper context, and love of others can follow. Similarly, find peace within yourself, and peace concerning others can follow
.
I wrote the following post on my personal blog back in May 2009, when a Bishop in our stake died unexpectedly. I hope it helps someone here:
“
Good Man Gone: Finding Peace” ( )http://thingsofmysoul.blogspot.com/2009/05/good-man-gone-finding-peace.html In this season when we celebrate the birth of someone who is known as the Prince of Peace, I hope everyone can find peace to a greater degree. It’s probably my greatest wish for everyone here, frankly.

GuestThanks, Ray. A timely message for the season, I might add. I believe the peace on earth spoken of by the angels at the birth of Christ is an internal peace (which can lead to universal peace). -
