The post concerns me. Let’s talk about it. I searched Facebook for the email address. I got three possibilities, and they were not good ones.
I also am wary about the post itself. I moved it into the Parking Lot for now.
Okay Sleuths – have it. I wasn’t comfortable reading it. Nothing awful, just not sure. What’s weird is that it is topical, at least the post is about faith and not Ray-Ban (see what I did there) sunglasses. The youtube link went to a video that was just text of what they had typed out in their post. It’s a US based IP address and I’ve found a few things but not much. The most I found was their reddit user profile:
https://www.reddit.com/user/PouringVocalshttps://www.reddit.com/user/PouringVocals” class=”bbcode_url”> Judging from their post that includes the text about their view on faith and links to two other sites where they posted about their view on faith and their reddit profile is full of instances where they’ve posted the same view on faith on several subreddits, I’d say that StayLDS is just another site in a long string of sites where they’re trying to get their view across.
My gut says I doubt they’re Mormon. They just chanced upon our site as a religion themed site and saw it as another place to give their spiel on faith.
I found the stuff Nibbler found except the reddit. I agree, it doesn’t sound like a member post, perhaps it’s just a religious fanatic trying to get the word out there. I don’t know that this is the place for a post like that. I’m not opposed to emailing the individual and nicely saying so and see if I get a response. That is a good idea. Let us know the response. Just to update, I did send a nice email stating our purpose and who we are (emphasizing the part about most of us being members of the church). I told him we had done a little research and what we found and that this is not a place to blog or just state one’s opinion without input, but that if he wished to participate as other forum members do here he was welcome. So far no response. Thank you DJ No response to my message, no login here since Dec. 20 (the day of membership approval and the post). I think it’s safe to not approve and clear it from the board.
