Monson’s stories, because I think I understand the point he is trying to make – and I think it’s a really important one. Having said that, I agree that some members will chalk up any changes to revelation. Whatever floats their boats.
I’m at the point where I celebrate any and all changes – just because it lessens the chance of them calcifying into expectations, policy, and the “unwritten order of things.” Quote:In 1993, the church’s president, Ezra Taft Benson, who was 94, was unable to attend for health reasons. I still miss President Hinckley sometimes. Maybe it’s the memory of a simpler faith, but I really enjoyed his leadership.

I agree. I wonder, though, why bother with a press release? Just do it?
I think there are a few good reasons for telling people — 1) communication — to tell people when time honored traditions are changing and 2) to promote the event. I wonder who the woman speaker will be.
