I heard a rumor that there is a new version of the ‘For the Strength of Youth’ pamphlet that is out. It reportedly included new material on gender identity and homosexuality. Does anyone have more info?

I doubt there is one “out there”. I would have had it, since I have two daughters in the YW program.

I have no idea if there is a new one being published.

[Admin note: Everyone, please don’t turn this into a thread about what might or might not be in a new FTSOY pamphlet. It all would be speculation, and we have other threads for that. 😆 ]

I am considered inactive – but have two kids in YM/YW. If there is a new FTSOY, it has not been distributed yet.

you’re not being politically correct: you are less-active, not inactive.

I have often thought the title For the Strength of the Youth is somewhat ironic. Don’t they get stronger and more independent by not being commanded in all things? By learning to think for themselves? We’ve got them pretty tightly controlled in this little pamphlet. A chick in its egg doesn’t get strong enough to survive until it breaks out of the egg.

There is a new version, but I don’t know where you can find it.

I think the same thing Hawkgrrrl. For some, the goals and standards work very good and provide strength. But for some, it is not a source of strength but a source of fear and guilt and makes these young spirits feel constricted to build their own strength in thinking about what they experience daily.

I’m not against the FSOY standards, but wouldn’t mind a different name…like, maybe…”Wisdom from the Older Generation” :?

If there ever is an updated virgin, er, I mean, version, I hope it encourages kids to date and stops telling them not to pair off until they are 45.

We just got the new version today. My daughters looked at the old and new ones side-by-side, and I really like most of the changes. I’ll try to post about them here in this thread, if I ever get enough time – as hectic as my life is right now. (My wife is demanding I leave all of you and help my family right now, and I’m saying, “Yes, Dear!” :ugeek: )
