I don’t have an OW profile, and I have never really been keen to be ordained to the PH as it is. It’s a very male organization, lots of pride and hierarchy. It’s not my thing. But, while I didn’t care whether women were ordained I absolutely did and DO care how the question is answered, and the answers from the church have been horrible and heartbreaking.

I think this is fantastically said.

Btw….I do have an OW profile. even though this is not my issue, I think your last post summed up why I finally did so.

Mike – I love new voices, I also begin by stating I am on week 2 of total couch recovery from surgery. My patience is thin. Women in the LDS church means a great deal to me. So I ask – What or how do you define and view “feminists”? We maybe misreading your comments based on the assumption of the word.

    Thanks

    So-called

    “Feminists”

    Presume

Those words put me on the defense.

How do we know when the leaders are speaking on behalf of The Lord?

How do we know that the leaders have enquired of The Lord.

Should we just follow in blind obedience?

I don’t know. From my experience i would say Mike is simply stating what most active mormon feel and believe?

Is there ever a time one can disagree or voice an opinion contrary to the prophets Mike?

    Serious question.

    For you Mike.

Please read the following, and really try to imagine how you would feel if this were your lived experience.

    and this:

    and this:

How dare you minimize the experiences of women in the church, when they try to explain that something hurts them!

    Yes, yours are fighting words…

While not asking for the priesthood some Mormon feminists point out that they could have a much more visible role and be of much greater service to the Church in general and people in particular. They stop short of the Ordain Women stand, but raise some thought provoking questions. Read the following article and feel free to comment.

Its a good article, dash. Thanks for posting it.

Putting new ideas out there in the public domain is sure to get some reaction from the ignorant, which has to be defended by boldness, long-suffering, and sticking up for what is right, even if it takes a little while to get the ideas through some people’s heads who judge it wrongly. And if it leads to good results, it is easier to gain support from leaders when the concepts are proven. Many church programs are adopted by leadership this way.

I support any group that says “Forget the priesthood, let’s go do a bunch of really Christ-like things!” That’s a great approach, instead of “I’m doing nothing or thinking nothing until the priesthood tells me what to do or think”.
