GuestHarmony – Here is a brief overview of Buddhist meditation. It’s a great introduction. http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/advicemed.htm Two other sites I use are
http://marc.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=22 I like the last one best. Her voice just works for me. The other two help me learn. Last of all when I need a quick focus I read Buddha in Blue Jeans.
http://www.holybooks.com/wp-content/uploads/Buddha-in-Blue-Jean.pdf Good Luck. I hope you find peace and clear thinking. FYI – this past Sunday I used meditation while I sat in Sacrament Meeting. I was agitated and feeling myself loosing happiness, so I just closed my hands, put both feet on the floor, and began breathing. It wasn’t three minutes and calm, warm, peace just took over. Nothing else changed, just me.

There is a member of our ward who I suspect has some deep questions. In the 20 years we’ve been here she has spent the vast majority of the time as nursery leader. She does sincerely love babies and small children, but I also suspect “hiding” in the nursery is a good escape for her – the nursery people never have to attend SS or RS.

GuestI usually require Tylenol either before, or immediately after the 3-hour block. January 10, 2014 at 6:26 pm #277845Anonymous
GuestI still like sacrament meeting and can usually get something out of it (I too find something to read if the talks are boring), but getting through 2nd and 3rd hour are getting harder and harder. Lots of times I find ways to get around it though and manage to sneak out. I don’t have a Sunday calling and no one but DH knows my change in beliefs, so it’s pretty easy for me to fly under the radar. I would love it if we only had the first meeting. -
