I had an impression to comment about this. I would like to propse we give people some slack when they show up here angry, or least let them vent a little bit more before we attempt to solve their problems. It is a very difficult line to judge because we absolutely can not let the place turn into a rant farm. Let’s try to take some time and patience to let people express disappointment. It looks like we have a newer person named “Morzen” who might not be in that state of peace much yet. I would like to see how this works with them.

    Is that ok with everyone?

Where do most of our people come from? NOM dropouts (or grads)? If so, I agree that we will have to deal with some of that. We’re working under pseudos here; there are bound to be drive-bys. I think the best way to handle that is for non-mods to address (as Hi Jolly did in this case).

If we mods swing at every pitch, it will start to look like we are adult chaperones at the middle school dance trying to enforce standards that all the kids will roll their eyes at. We’ll just marginalize ourselves in the process. I’m not advocating spiking the punch either!

I agree, and I am the one who usually asks the too-pointed questions. I forget sometimes how that can sound to others – that it sounds like criticism and rejection when it really is meant only for clarification, to “shine the light”, per se, on broad stereotypes and gauge the attitude that comes out in the response. I’ll back off and let others engage first.

I also deleted my comment from that thread. Hopefully, Morzen didn’t read it first.

Ray, your questions are excellent and should be asked. I think we will work better to help people if we establish a connection first though, before we dig into the people. I have this sense it needs a little more time, a little more patience. That is all. I like to ask those questions too. They get to the heart of what we are about here.

It’s ok to ask hard questions of the Church right? How about asking ourselves those same kind of hard questions …. 😈 That is when we gain wisdom.
