GuestMy father passed away this morning. The following is a tribute to him and his life of unselfish service. The world lost a true man of God today.

GuestRay, so sorry for the loss of your father! So grateful you have shared his life with all of us. I am so glad to know the story of your father. I have reflected on it many times and shared it with my family and a few close friends. He was/is remarkable. September 21, 2013 at 8:06 pm #274017Anonymous
GuestI’m truly sorry for your loss, Ray. September 21, 2013 at 8:26 pm #274018Anonymous
GuestOur thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I would love to bring over a dinner or do something but our on line ward doesn’t lend itself very well to do that. September 21, 2013 at 8:33 pm #274019Anonymous
GuestCondolences Ray…am very interested in how a person feels when this happens. This has never happened to me. I read over your blog post. I got a feel for this man who was a capable leader yet let service and love for others overwhelm ambition he must have felt.
It was touching how you drew the analogy between “no cats in the house” and protecting his family like he did your mother.

GuestThanks, everyone. This has been approaching for a couple of months, so there was no surprise, but, as my brother who has been caring for him said, “I thought I was prepared, but I’m not.” I told him I am happy for my dad, but we still can grieve our loss.
Due to the generosity of a dear friend, my wife and I are going to be able to attend his funeral – and I am deeply grateful for that.

GuestRay. I am so sorry for your loss and so gratful for you sharing your Dad’s story. If it is any help you can be assured that he has touched and perhaps even altered the lives of at least 5 people he had not even met. September 21, 2013 at 10:56 pm #274023Anonymous
GuestRay, My deepest sympathies for you and your family.

GuestI never have known what I should say at times like this. My sister in law lost a baby and we were talking about stuff people say. She told me that she wished someone had just said,”I am so sorry, that just sucks”. So sorry Ray, and that just sucks. I loved your post about him. I hope your trip goes well and travel safe.

GuestQuote:“The only way to take the grief out of death is to take the love out of life.”
Someone shared that with me today, privately, and said,
Quote:“He was such a deeply beloved man that our loss will be grieved just as deeply.”

GuestI am sorry for your loss. September 22, 2013 at 2:50 am #274027Anonymous
GuestRay, I’m sorry for your loss. It is times like this that we realize how unique every individual is that has ever lived on this earth. What a blessing it is to be able to celebrate an individual’s life & not mourn unfinished “business”.
I believe that there is a celebration going on the other side of the veil as well.

GuestRay, I am sorry for your great loss. I read your father’s story aloud to my daughter today. Thanks for sharing it. It made me look at a couple in our ward very differently. -
